COVID-19 is shaping the future of Work from Home gigs!

Coronavirus Pandemic has resulted in so much fear, agony, anxiety and bought the entire world to a standstill. However, on its plus side, it has allowed the time to introspect and reflect (which our past fast-paced, frenzied day to day routine work- life did not allow the liberty to do so!).

The typical 9-5 employee loathes the very thought of getting up and going to office day- in- day out. The mundane routine, The mad traffic, The office Politics all causes stomach cramps. All these years of on the Go, with barely any time for quality morning breakfast, and drained out for the evening work-out has built up considerable stress on the body, mind, and soul.

This Pandemic forced the world to go into lock-down. However, corporations couldn’t afford to remain in a paused state for long. The need to remain operational has caused the governments across the world to advise its people to keep the business continuity going, and hence Work from Home has become a new norm.

This concept is nothing new, especially for those from the Tech and Finance sectors, who for the most part already had this privilege, but over the years this flexibility became their curse than a boon. Apart from the 8 plus hours already away from home, the extended work-from-home schedule intrudes into their family time, which leads to a never-ending spiral of a deteriorated family life.

The Corona pandemic perhaps came for a reason, it could be the creator's message to mankind to pause and reflect. It is an indication that apart from abusing mother nature, we have been actually abusing ourselves. So this locked-in phase should be treated as a God-sent opportunity to heal our habits and reset our life. If utilized wisely we can become more disciplined, better organized, strengthen our family bonding and become a more spiritual being.

This phase warrants to get our lives in order. Rather than being glued on to the news channels and consuming the negativities around, we have an opportunity to reorganize our schedule and transition from the Fear zone to the Learning Zone. Once we hit the Growth Zone, we can truly taste the freedom of working from the comfort of our home and enhance our productivity, whilst continuing to enjoy our family time.

COVID-19 will eventually be eradicated and the world will recover, but in doing so we may stare at a new set of illness which may have far-reaching consequences than the pandemic. The looming economy, the troubled Job markets, and reduced income will put forth tremendous pressure on the work-force.

As we get set to bid farewell to the pandemic, Corporations will be geared up to bring back their work-force to the cubicles and squeeze their productivity. The short-lived good taste of working from home lifestyle will become diminished and will be replaced by the deepened pain of being caged in the 9-5 rats race.

Instead of locking down our minds, we need to prepare ourselves to build immunity towards Job and Financial Independence. There are options out there and those willing should explore the myriad of opportunities to enhance your skills.

Select few Entrepreneurs are already living the success lifestyle by building a Home Based Business. They determine their own hours, have multiple streams of income and got their Health, Wealth and Relationships in order. They have established a system that provides a Residual Income for Life, whereby you can truly experience the joy of waking up in the morning, not because you have to commute to work, but because you are eager to build your own business from the safety and security of your own home.

Good Bye Covid-19, and Welcome to the blissful Work from Home way of life- 2020 and beyond!

Update: April 2022 It has been exactly two years since I've published this blog.

Fortunately, Covid-19 seems to be under control, although not fully behind us.

The pandemic has indeed got many corporations to reflect and revisit their strategies. They have understood that the old way would not work moving forward. The leading forward-thinking corporations have now started to embrace the Work from Home policy. They have realized that the culture of Work-Life Integration policy would enable them to attract and retain talents and lead to enhanced productivity in their workforce.

Empathy is the prevailing buzzword among several leading corporations who are now willing to tailor their policies for the benefit of their people. As a matter of fact, a four day work week model seems to be the talk of several Corporate HR round tables, and it won't be surprising this model may become the norm to create a happy, balanced and productive workforce.

With all the welcome measures, corporations can attract talented people back, who had once decided to carve out their own path as the corporate culture in those days was not conducive enough for them to continue to pour their blood, sweat and tears into the benefit of corporations. Hence, the new flexible model being adopted would truly lead to a win-win loyal relationship between employees and corporations alike.
